Company Description

In August 1997 Cyrix merged with National Semiconductor. Cyrix, specializes in the manufacture of high-performance maths co-processors for 286 and 386 systems. Cyrix produced their own design CPUs such as 486 class processors (with partly Pentium technology and 486 pinout called 5x86) and Pentium Pro class CPUs with Pentium pinout (6x86) using a RISC core with x86 translation. 6x86s were known to have slow FPUs though.
